WMITA Member Publishes Telecom Software Book

Kundan Misra, co-founder of Meadoweb – which provides IT support and software educational support from Coventry and a proud member of WMITA –
has written the industry standard book on telecom network management OSS for Telecom Networks: An Introduction to Network Management (Springer: New York) The book is available now at Amazon and hundreds of online retailers.

Telecom, IT and education are becoming entwined together, and Kundan should know. Meadoweb’s technicians can provide IT support and educational support to businesspeople and computer users anywhere in the world over the internet.

The timing of the book is excellent. The author, Kundan, said, “The telecom services business is now highly automated like the auto industry, where cars are now built by robots. The robots which manage telecom networks are computer software, called operational support systems or OSS.”

Kundan that the software which runs telecom networks will become even more important. “The telecom business is now so competitive that you’ve got to rely on software. This means more jobs for programmers. It also means that future telecom services are limited only by how creative we can be in writing the software.”

“The telecom infrastructure – the cables, boxes, transmission towers – is like a clean slate, it can’t do anything on its own. The network management software makes it sing, dance and do all the wonderful things that it does for us.”

Kundan’s background in network management comes from Clarity and AdventNet, two of the world’s leading providers of telecom network management software.

Kundan has a PhD in computer science from the University of Warwick, which through the Enterprise Fellowship Scheme, supported him in setting up Meadoweb.
